Ghoul - Betrayal Is Close

Indian cinema and horror, they are like hero and villain they can’t go together. Talking about old horror films, they were really scary, now I don’t know why they were so, maybe I was just a kid that’s why or maybe they were really scary. Who knows? But still the horror element was there even if the same old story of a couple staying at a “haveli” was repeated over and over again. Making a horror cinema is very difficult, because the director has to make people feel two things, the thrill and in the back of the mind the horror element, and that is something not everyone can do. Netflix’s new reel Ghoul is such an attempt towards this, and I must say they have blown my mind!! I mean if we ignore the acting part of extras, Ghoul is something which will really make you feel something. For me it was more of a thriller less of horror but still it was something which I have not seen for many years. 

Radhika Apte’s (as Nidha) and Manav Kaul starrer Ghoul is a story of such a time where nationalism is above all, and every person who questions the State is labelled as “anti-national”. Ghoul is about Nidha who was recently recruited in an advance interrogation camp, for interrogating one of the most wanted “anti-national” of all time. This gist of Ghoul may give you a feeling that the series is more about nationalism rather than a horror flick but believe me, this is not the case. Nationalism is just the cover up given by the writers the main theme is Ghoul.

In conclusion, not a single moment was there, where I got bored, not a single! The three episodes were full of thrill, horror and thrill!! That is something which is missing in most of the Indian horror movies. For me Ghoul is a go!! Don’t miss it!!!

Karwaan Review - Irrfan!! Irrfan!! and Irrfan!!

KARWAAN - 3 LOST SOULS..., 2 DEAD BODIES... A JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME

हम सभी की लाइफ में एक goal तो पक्के से हैं, और वो हैं road rrip| हम सब यही चाहते हैं कि कहीं घूमने जाए दोस्तो के साथ लेकिन train और Airplane से नही, car से| सबको एक ना एक बार road trip ज़रूर करनी हैं, क्यू कि road rrip का idea ही इतना ज़्यादा fascinating हैं, कि खुद की कार से जाएगे, कहीं भी रुक जाएगे, कोई schedule नहीं कुछ नही| इस हफ्ते release हुई फिल्म Karwaan भीं एक road trip के बारे में हैं, लेकिन ये road trip थोड़ी सी अलग हैं| फिल्म का निर्देशन किया हैं Akarsh Khurana ने और फिल्म में हैं Irrfan Khan, DulquerSalman और MithilaPalkar| आइए फिल्म का trailer देखते हैं

फिल्म की कहानी हैं तीन लोगो के बारे में जो किसी तरह एक साथ एक ही गाड़ी में, एक ही जगह जाते हैं, पहला इंसान हैं, Avinash जो एक IT Company में काम कर रहा हैं, फिल्म की starting में ही दिखा दिया जाता हैं कि Avinash अपनी job से बिल्कुल खुश नही हैं, वही रोज का चिल्लाना, deadline से पहले projects पूरे करना, हर छोटी बात पर Boss का गुस्सा झेलना, एक दम typical IT scenario जो आप सब सोच सकते हैं| ऐसी सी जिंदगी जी रहा हैं अविनाश तभी उसे पता चलता हैं कि उसके पिता की मौत हो गयी हैं, और जब वो dead body लेने जाता हैं तो पता चलता हैं कि body कहीं और हैं| बस यहीं से चालू होती हैं road Trip जिसमे उसके साथ हैं avinash का दोस्त Irrfan Khan जो की उस गाड़ी के मालिक हैं, फिल्म में बीच में avinash को मिलती हैं Mithila जिन्हे वो अपने साथ उस road trip पर ले कर जाते हैं| अब क्यू? कैसे? और कहाँ? से ये तीनो एक साथ आ जाते हैं ये तो movie का main part जो मैं आपको यहा नही बता सकता| लेकिन एक चीज़ तीनो में common हैं तीनो को अपने 'पिता' से कोई लगाव नही हैं और ऐसा होने के उन तीनो के अपने अपने reasons हैं| कहानी की ending happy हैं जो की होनी भी चाहिए वरना ऐसी फ़िल्मो में sad ending में मज़ा नही आता| ऐसा ख़याल आ ही जाता हैं की ending change होनी चाहिए थी, लेकिन शुक्र हैं इस फिल्म में ऐसा नहीं हैं|

फिल्म की अच्छी बातो की बाते करे तो, सबसे पहले जो आना चाहिए वो हैं, Irrfan Khan| बहुत ही ज़्यादा कमाल का काम किया हैं उन्होने, पूरी फिल्म में सिर्फ़ एक ही इंसान होगा जो आपको हसाता रहेगा और वो हैं Irrfan khan और ये कहने में मुझे कोई हर्ज़ नही कि Irrfan Khan अकेले ही ये फिल्म उठा सकते थे, उनकी timing और acting ने ही पूरी फिल्म में bore नही होने दिया, वरना drama movies में bore ना हो ऐसा बहुत ही कम होता हैं| Kapoor and Sons जैसी फ़िल्मे सालो में एकआती हैं| लेकिन Karwaan में Irrfan आपको हसाते ही रहेगे| बात करे अगर Dulquer की तो उन्होने पहली हिन्दी फिल्म के हिसाब से काफ़ी सही काम किया हैं, ना कोई overacting, ना ज़्यादा drama एक दम natural और रही बात Mithila की, तो मेरे हिसाब से उनका असली talent देखना अभी बाकी हैं, क्यू कि इस फिल्म में उनका इतना ज़्यादा role नही हैं, movie majorly Irrfan और Dulquer पर focus रहती हैं|

दूसरी अच्छी चीज़ हैं इस फिल्म के गाने, और ख़ासकर की उनके lyrics| दो particular गाने जो मुझे उनकी lyrics की वजह से बहुत ही अच्छे लगे वो थे "Chota sa fasana" और "Heartquake"| इन दो गानो के lyrics वाकई में कुछ नये से हैं, "chota sa fasana" देख कर ऐसा लगेगा की अभी गाड़ी निकल कर चल पड़ो कहीं घूमने और ये गाना background में बजता रहे| फिल्म की यही एक सबसे ख़ास बात होती है, कि वो आपको दो घंटो के लिए एक अलग हे दुनिया में ले जाती हैं, एक ऐसी दुनिया जो हम सपनो में ही देख सकते हैं, क्यू कि reality नाम की एक चीज़ exist करती हैं, इसलिए फ़िल्मे हमे हमारी वो दुनिया में जीने का मौका देती हैं जो हम सपने में देखते हैं    

फिल्म में एक चीज़ हैं जो आप में से बहुत लोगो को एक बार के लिए BT देगी, और वो हैं फिल्म की starting का वो part जिसमे avinash को अपनी photography छोड़ कर job करनी पड़ती हैं, हालाँकि वो हिस्सा इतना impact वाला नही हैं, लेकिन अगर आप जल्दी से relate करने वाले लोगो में से हैं, तो वो हिस्सा भी एक बार के लिए आपको थोड़ी BT देगा, पर हाँ end में all is good| लेकिन फिर भी दिमाग़ में ये बात तो आएगी की job नाम की चीज़ बनी ही क्यू हैं|

फिल्म अच्छी हैं, एक बार तो देखी जा सकती हैं, लेकिन Irrfan को आप जितनी बार देखे उतना कम हैं|
